How would you describe yourself professionally?
Patient and dedicated to my clients. Hard working, creative. And authentic. My clients tell me I’m dedicated and authentic. Guiding families to their next home is important to me. It’s where they build memories.
How long have you been an agent?
I have been an agent with RE/MAX for 5 years and prior to that in the investment side of flipping homes for 24 years.
Before that, you worked in furniture and interior design industry? How and why did you make that change?
I worked in the flooring and furniture industry as a decorating consultant. I sold sold flooring, interior finishes and provided shop at home design services bringing rooms together for satisfied customers. Also we renovated and flipped homes since 1995. Coming from a design background, I was quite finicky about staging our homes. They were dressed just right and as a result, they sold for top dollar. I knew my calling was right there in front of me. I earned my real estate license in 2013. I immediately started working with RE/MAX First and won my first award that same year. A few years later I joined forces with RE/MAX HALLMARK, the largest RE/MAX franchise in Canada and I’m loving every minute of it.
What attracted you to the real estate business?
Really, it was the people. I loved the idea of meeting wonderful people and finding them the perfect home. Helping them see the potential in their dream home and making their selling experience easy and successful. Helping people enjoy their homes to the fullest is important to me.
And your background flipping homes must be a huge asset for your
Absolutely. I help my clients realize the potential of a fixer upper and how they can maximize the value of their existing home with the least amount of cost. Real estate is about timing and creative solutions. One client wanted to build a garage before selling but he was pressed for time and worried about missing the peak market. He was also unsure if he would recoup the cost of building the garage. My advice to him was to apply for a garage building permit and reflect it in the selling price as an added value. This way he can sell his home for top dollar and build improvements on his future home.
You have many clients who have come to you more than once. Building relationships is obviously important to you.
It’s everything. My clients trust me to give them my honest opinion – if we’re looking at a house and something is not right, I tell them. It’s not just about the sale… it’s about finding them the right home for them. Nothing makes me happier than hearing my clients say that without me they doubt they would be in the home they love.
What brings you happiness outside of your work?
